The Guardian Print Centre chooses Harland Simon to provide management information on MAN presses, April 2007

The Guardian Print Centre in London has become the latest site to choose Harland Simon to provide press hall and mailroom management information. The site has excellent print facilities including two Berliner format MAN press lines. The Harland Simon system will  provide real-time monitoring and a suite of reports that will be available around the site and at the Guardian’s head office in Farringdon Road

Harland Simon has supplied their complete digital presetting solution linked to the CTP system and the latest versions of their Prima Management System and control consoles. Highlights of the latest version of the Management System are user friendly, web based production reporting utilizing the latest Microsoft SQL 2005 Reporting Services. The Prima 6000 control console touch screens have been completely redesigned for even faster operation with excellent graphic presentation and incorporate all the new features of the FPS.

The new system will see operator terminals positioned on the existing press control desks and will link into existing copy counters around the site in order to collect data. Job scheduling applications will build a ‘production framework’ against which the system will provide real-time monitoring and web-based reporting.

The Guardian order builds on an already impressive client list for the Harland Simon system that includes Trinity Mirror in Birmingham and Harmsworth Printing at Didcot
