Newsweek Media commission PRIMA Management System

plc, is pleased to announce Post
Newsweek Media, Gaithersburg, MD have recently made the decision
to maximize their new Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Press by
utilizing Harlan Simon’s Management and Production System
- PRIMA Management System. Frank Abbott, Group President commented
“…Harland Simon’s PRIMA Management System
offers the flexibility we need to achieve our goals….from
interacting with our prepress systems, the reporting capabilities
or to uploading the imposition to the press controls, PRIMA
MS can do it all.”
Post Newsweek
Media Commercial Printing division has signed a contract with
Mitsubishi for a 6 tower and reels with 2 2:5:5 folders and
Harland Simon for their PRIMA Management Systems. The Harland
Simon systems will be supplied to interface with Mitsubishi’s
CCS System and
ProImage’s NewsWay System, Mactive’s Page Layout
Systems and FMC’s SGV Manager Systems.
Shane Butcher,
Director of IT for Post Newsweek Media further added “the
new systems will allow the sending of data, e.g. jobs, impositions,
planning schedules etc. directly from PRIMA Management System
and the capture of events like speed, copy counts and status
signals from the Mitsubishi presses, all to be reported via
PRIMA’s Reporting tools”.
John Staiano,
Vice President of Sales, commented “this is a very
exciting venture for Harland Simon; it not only increases
our visibility and market share within North American, but
our experience with Mitsubishi presses and 3rd
Party interfaces”. Commissioning is due to commence
end of March 2006 and we expect full production, using the
new system by October 2006.
Harland Simon,
who recently obtained an order from The Register Guard to
put PRIMA Management System onto their 15 year old Mitsubishi
Press, which was commissioned early September 2005 and now,
is in full production at their Eugene, OR facility
