HPL Didcot chooses Harland Simon, Milton Keynes, January 18th 2007

Harmsworth Printing Limited has selected Harland Simon to provide copy counting facilities at its new flagship print centre at Didcot. The news comes hot on the heels of Harland’s formation of a Post Press Solutions group and is further evidence of their growing strength in that area.

The system will monitor and record copy counts throughout the press hall and mailroom and provide a number of real-time displays in key areas. Interestingly, HPL will make use of Harland Simon’s database expertise to use the system as a ‘data warehouse’ for other computer systems within the plant such as plate-making and stock control.

Christine Klafkowska, Deputy Managing Director of Harmsworth Printing Ltd and General Manager of the new plant said, ‘We evaluated the solutions offered by a number of the industry’s leading suppliers, but in the end Harland Simon’s ability to combine their proven Prima platform with our specific requirements made the choice straightforward. Accurate, real-time copy counts are essential in our drive to minimise waste so it was very important for us to make the right decision – and I’m sure that we have’.
