Newspaper Group again chooses Harland Simon June
17th 2002
Northcliffe Newspaper Group has
embarked on a major upgrade programme which will involve the
installation of two new GOSS Colorliner 80 fully shaftless
towers at Aberdeen Journals Ltd. Harland Simon was chosen
to provide the press controls, not only for the new towers,
but also to upgrade the controls on the existing press.
Harland Simon were able
to demonstrate a proven track record of upgrading press control
systems and integration of shaftless press extension projects
said Mark Ellington, Technical Director of Northcliffe. We
were satisfied that the solution proposed by Harland Simon
would minimise the risks to production during the installation
period.
The three new Harland Simon PRIMA
5000 press control desks and shaftless drives will interface
with the existing PRIMA
Management System which has been operating successfully
in Aberdeen for the past two years.
The controls upgrade represents
the first phase of this major project and will be completed
before the new towers arrive in May 2002.
