Harland
Simon today carried out the first set of live tests on the
next generation of RFID Tags. The new tags are based on
the very latest technology which it is hoped will solve
the problem of useable range and affordable price per unit.
These first tests were carried out with the UK distributor
of this revolutionary technology. The outcomes of the tests
were positive in the areas of read range and discrimination.
A Harland Simon
spokesperson
stated
“ the design of
these new tags offers the holy grail in RFID terms for the
publishing and paper production industries, with the apparent
ability to deliver usable range, 60 feet in free air, and
low cost per unit, around €1. Additionally they are
very small and flexible allowing easy mounting on many different
substrates including aluminium and have the real advantage
of being bio-degradable.”
Harland
Simon will be carrying out further more detailed tests over
the next few weeks which will include mounting on different
cores and exposure to different site conditions.
