| PRIMA 6000 Press Control
Console
At the heart of the press automation system is the PRIMA
6000 press control console. The PRIMA
6000 has been designed to offer excellent ease
of use to the press operator whilst remaining both physically
and technologically robust.
The PRIMA
6000 is designed specifically to control a newspaper
press, with controls available on the desktop laydown area
or via the large LCD touch screen.
Those aspects
of control that require intuitive, rapid or repetitive operation,
such as ink adjustment, are provided as part of the desktop
facilities. Control functions that are selective, non time
critical or require data entry, such as calling down an imposition
from the management system, are accessed via the touch screen.
The PRIMA
6000 can be operated by a single operator or, with
the optional second screen fitted, by a pair of operators.
The PRIMA 6000 Desktop

The PRIMA
6000 desktop is designed to allow the operator
to make adjustments to the copy both rapidly and accurately.
By providing the operator with all the image controls he needs
around the central copy laydown area, valuable time is saved
when making alterations to the printed copy.
One or more PRIMA
6000 consoles can be used to control a press and,
if there is more than one folder in a press line, any console
can control any folder. This is particularly useful during
the start up period when, for example, all consoles can be
switched to folder A to achieve good copy, before switching
some back to folder B when it starts up.
Interfaces
The PRIMA automation system
is able to control any size of press from any press manufacturer.
In addition, a suite of software modules known as PressNet
provides standard interfaces to a number of third party control
systems for quality functions, such as
Ryco dampener system
Baldwin dampener system
Baldwin blanket wash system
CGI inking system
Perretta inking system
PPSI inking system
