it will be to produce a product.
Takes into account unserviceable
parts of the press.
Takes into account production
running rules.
Specifying a Product
Simple drop-down menus allow the user to easily and quickly
select the press, input the number of sections, specify straight/collect
and specify which set of penalties to apply.Entering Product
Specifications
Color is added
to the product by clicking the color buttons at the top of
the screen. In the case of a collect run, collect pairs of
pages are automatically indicated. At this stage, the user
can specify where to fix fly sheets or disallow them from
certain pages, such as front and back. The user can also set
panoramic double-trucks and center page spreads. The product
specification can be saved for future use. Also from this
window the user can input comments for each page that will
be printed out. For example, you may wish to include an advertisers
name or color information for editorial.
PRIMA
ColorWare is configured
to know exactly what your presses can do and how the production
manager likes to run them. All you need to do is to enter
the size of the product you intend to produce via the input
screen below.

Once a product
has been entered here we have a 2 section broadsheet
ColorWare calculates which pages could have color,
and highlights them with a green box.
In the example above, it
is possible to have color on any page but not necessarily
every page.
The user can
then select a page to put color on, by clicking the page on
the input screen.

ColorWare will
then calculate the pages where color is still available and
also the pages where color can best be placed. The example
above still allows color on all pages, but recommends the
pages highlighted in blue since they will be on a web path
that has already been selected.
As more pages
are selected for color, it will eventually become impossible
to put color on certain other pages. Those pages are shown
below as unframed white boxes.
As color pages
are selected or changed, ColorWare provides a guide to how
difficult the run will be.
PRIMA
ColorWare gives you
all the press hall information you need to produce better-planned
products without the need to continually refer to the production
staff.
