| Generating
Impositions
Esprit tries six methods to generate an imposition. These
are summarized on a display screen. The display also shows
the number of turns and bays needed, along with the total
cost in penalty points. The lower the number the
better the imposition.
Viewing an Imposition
As soon as an imposition has been generated, the user can
view it by clicking on View Imposition. At the same time Esprit
continues to work on other impositions. The user can choose
to view more than one imposition in order to compare them.
Imposition Listing
In the example above, five of the six impositions are complete.
The best so far uses a bay and carries 605 penalty points.
The user could decide to avoid using a bay, and accept the
increased number of penalty points on the highlighted imposition.
If no Imposition is
Possible
It is not always possible to find a way to produce a product
as requested. If Esprit identifies one of these situations,
the system will show the best approximation and highlight
the shortcomings in red.
Press Mimics showing
Impositions
Esprit displays clear, user-friendly press mimics showing
the selected imposition. The screens on the following page
show press mimics with the web paths generated by Esprit.
Esprit also displays the plate maps beneath the mimic and
the colors that are available and detailed former and angle
bar routings.
The best imposition from our
example above is laid out as below
Help with Webbing-Up
Esprit prints an easy-to-understand, color layout of the press,
for the press operators to use in webbing-up. The printout
saves time in make-ready.
Printing out the Imposition
Esprit has three types of printouts
Just the imposition,
as shown below.

an additional page with angle bar information; a former
routing diagram; list of color pages and pages with comment
attachments.
A single sheet with
plate maps; angle bar information; former routing diagram;
list of color pages and pages with comment attachments.
As well as being able to print out an imposition, the user
is also able to save it as a bitmap in order to e-mail it.
As an option, we can also configure a fourth print out to
be similar to those already used by a customer.
