| Introduction
PRIMA.net pulls together
information from the roll store, press hall and mailroom to
provide real-time monitoring and historic reporting, minimizing
the need for manual data input. Information is collected during
the run from the existing plant, via sensors and directly
from operator input, so that reports can be generated immediately
without staff having to manually enter data after the event.

Areas of Operation
The modules that form PRIMA.net
fall into four areas of operation
Production Office
Press hall
Mailroom
Roll store
Although PRIMA.net
is available as a fully integrated system covering all of
the factory areas, the modules for each area are also available
separately. The complete system will allow monitoring of the
production process from the moment paper arrives on site until
it leaves again as the finished product.
PRIMA.net in the Production Office
The production office is at the center of the PRIMA.net
system. It is here that the initial production schedules are
set up and subsequent data analysis can be undertaken.
To begin with, the user inputs
information about his pending jobs such as title, edition
name, pagination, copy requirements and planned run times.

Once the production jobs are
defined, the user is able to allocate press slots for the
jobs via the production planning module.

Jobs shown in red are currently
active on the press while those in green are ready to run.
Job details can be viewed simply by moving the mouse pointer
over the job. Template plans allow regular shift plans to
be set up quickly.
A Manning module allows management
to plan the requirements for staff on a shift basis and also
to log crew performance.
Once
production is underway, progress can be monitored at any of
the PRIMA.net terminals and even remotely using web browsers.Views
are graphical and easy to understand and can be on a job or
press basis.

Views update every
few seconds and can be made available to anyone on the network.
